Procrastination is such a fun game to play. You get to goof around and worry and obsess and then you get the adrenaline rush of doing something under pressure.
Judging by the crowds in the stores, everyone procrastinates on Xmas shopping. The thing is, I usually don't. Even last year when we were all walking around totally numbed by grief and loss, I managed to have all the presents bought and wrapped well before the day. Maybe last year it was out of a sense of trying to make everything right by sticking to the rituals. Maybe that worked last year.
This year I have zero Xmas spirit. I asked for nothing except the things that go on the seat belts to make them tighter/safer for kids. I'm still working on the shopping for the kids - got all the beanie babies on Andrea's list & 3 beanie babies and some colored string for Elizabeth (her list was: "beanie babies, colored string, small stuft animals" - her school teaches inventive spelling). Anyhow, I'm stymied on the small stuft animals. Bears? dogs? cats? penguins? nudibranchs? raptors? Colored string was a bit of a challenge until I decided embroidery floss would do. That comes in fabulous colors.
Today's rain is supposed to result in flooding but so far it hasn't around here. It is raining awfully hard though.
