Scope

December 20, 1996

Kate and I drove up to Newburyport for lunch at Ciro's, coffee and low key no goals shopping. I bought Mom The Nature of Massachusetts, autographed by Chris Elliot (not that Chris Elliot - the one from Mass Audubon). And I bought myself a scope! Finally! Also the National Audubon Society birding CD-ROM, which I've now spent 2 hours playing with instead of writing in my journal. The CD is cool. You can browse by pictures of the birds or by the names, keep several life-lists, plan trips to hot birding spots, hear bird songs, great fun. But the scope is the coolest present I've bought for myself in a long time. Now for a good look at those offshore ducks!
