Faith

December 25, 1996

The cats seemed mellow today. Jaguar stretched out to his full length on top of the dryer and purred for me. He stretched his claws and narrowed his eyes in contentment. Precious tried to climb into the dryer when Amy was loading it, but that didn't disturb Jaguar.

The Christmas miracle however is: Faith!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Faith got adopted and went to her new home. She had been at the shelter over a year and seemed an unlikely candidate for adoption because she's old and she bites. But she found a person! I kind of miss her sitting on top of the dryer - her spot for the past year - but I am thrilled that she has found a real home at last. She's a quiet black and white female who can't handle too much petting but is friendly enough if you relate on her terms. My niece, Andrea, was quite taken with Faith when she visited the shelter. When I told Andrea and Elizabeth that Faith had found a home, they were disappointed because that meant they can't visit her at the shelter. But Kevin explained to them how wonderful it is. I think on some level they get it. I think I would feel ambivalent about Jaguar leaving if he managed to find a person... But I know I would deep down be happy.
