Last night the weather dudes predicted Edouard would smite Rhode Island with a force greater than Hurricane Bob and issued hurricane warnings from Watch Hill to the Merrimack River (way north of Rhode Island and very close to me). Nancy and I curtailed our weekend plans accordingly. She spent the morning stocking up on white bread and batteries as is the Rhode Island custom. I spent the morning drinking coffee at Starbucks and sorting my Russia pictures. We met at South Station in the afternoon and went over to Trident Booksellers and Cafe on Newbury Street for lunch and more coffee and a look at the pictures. After a long long lunch I dropped her off at South Station so she could get to RI before Edouard. As I drove home, the weather dudes were predicting Eduoard would smite Cape Cod with a force less than Hurricane Bob. I decided Eduoard would do what it wanted and took a nap.
As I am typing this the kids of the condo complex are gathered outside on the hill watching the Labor Day fireworks in Lawrence. They started singing the National Anthem complete with the last 2 words - "Play Ball!".
No sign of hurricane whatsisname in the Merrimack Valley yet, and since I shutoff the radio after the baseball game (Red Sox won 8 to 3 over Oakland) I have no idea what the current prediction is.
Later: Channel 7 is into comparing Edouard to Bob, showing the track on the map and rattling off all the statistics. I glean from this that Edouard will pass further east than Bob did hence less damage. But that could change. Meanwhile, I feel more jet lagged than I did yesterday
