for once, it really is snowing

March 8, 1997

i get all the news i need on the weather report

It is snowing. The forecast calls for 3 or 4 inches. It looks like they might be right for a change. It's kinda pretty.

the coffee scene

I ran into Tom and QI at Starbucks. We had a wonderful conversation about plate tectonics and Icelandic literature and Tuvan music and sheep diseases. Guess you had to be there. My cousin Richard breezed in not dressed for the snowy weather. He said he was leaving for the Bahamas in a few minutes. Nothing like going to a warm place on a snowy day.

the Blue Diner

After being stuck on the lower deck of I-93 for 47 minutes in traffic, I picked up Nancy at South Station and we sojourned to the Blue Diner for the best macaroni and cheese plate in Boston. We had some of their famous hush puppies too - dipped in real maple syrup. A nice dinner out on a snowy day. Have I mentioned it's snowing?

home

After dinner we settled in at my house with all the Tuvan or other Siberian CDs in both our collections and had "central Asia dj night". We had a blast. Wilbur hates the shamanic animal summoning songs. He runs toward the speakers from wherever he is in the house, makes a threat display, and runs away. The rest of the music doesn't bother him, just shamanic invocations.
