A deconstructionist snowman?

March 12, 1997

I sang to Juliette and she didn't hurt me. Mr. Spencer didn't spray anything. Calley got into fights with Slinky and Abner. Brian has extended his "just flop down, roll over, and look submissive" strategy to perils other than Abner. He was standing under the stepladder. I stepped down and tripped over him. He did his thing. We laughed. His reaction to any threat is submission.

Dickie got adopted.

Shirley, the really skinny one who was adopted a few weeks ago, died. We kind of knew she didn't have long. At least she had her last days in a nice home instead of in a cage at the shelter.

Jaguar was purring and rolling over for me today. I stroked his chin for a long time and he seemed to be quite happy.

Stumpy has gingivitis.

Tonight in oceanography class we learned about the Stommel deep water circulation model. Turns out it's the same Stommel who wrote Volcano Weather. The list of readings at the end of the chapter mentions a couple more of his books. Now I'll know to look for them.

This was the last class before "spring break". We have another exam the week following break, covering currents, air-sea interaction, waves, and tides. I wonder if I should take Essentials of Oceanography to the Anza Borrego desert and the Salton Sea. Nah. Vacation is vacation.

Did I mention it snowed yesterday?

Best snowman: Buzz Lightyear, richly detailed and colored (food coloring? paint?) on Rt. 110 in Salisbury.

Cutest snowman: a 3 foot tall featureless lump wearing purple earmuffs.

Oddest snowman: 3 separate snow balls in graduated sizes not stacked - just there on the ground not even in the right order. Was it a snowman that fell down? Is it a snowman kit? A work in progress? A deconstructionist snowman?
