Pirates vs CardinalsAndrea's glove has gone missing! We can't find it anywhere. Suddenly she remembers the last place she saw it was in Daddy's van. Uh-oh! Daddy's playing in a golf tournament today and Aunt Janet gets to take Andrea to tee ball all by herself. Yikes. She plays without a glove rather than borrow someone else's. I want my glove! She's acutely embarrassed by Aunt Janet's Hanshin Tigers cap. It is kinda dirty but I don't think that's what's so embarrassing. Elizabeth hangs Aunt Janet's hat in a tree. Parents and kids walk by asking: "who's hat is that?" After the first inning, Andrea has to go to the bathroom. There is no bathroom at the field. She demands to be driven home. I stop and Dunkin Donuts to ask if they have a restroom. They don't but they point me to the Groton Inn across the street. Ahh! They've got one. We don't have to drive all the way home. We get back before Andrea's next at bat. Another Pirate has to pee. The parent asks me where I found a bathroom so fast... I guess I'm officially part of the Pirates entourage now. The most exciting play was a pig pile of Pirates in right field. One kid ran all the way from second base and bowled down a couple of his teammates to get to the ball. |
Mary PoppinsWe picked up a couple of pizzas at Groton House of Pizza and settled in to watch Mary Poppins and wait for Coach Kevin to come home. Elizabeth pointed out something I'd never noticed in the frolic in the sidewalk picture scene a family of swans floats by. The cygnets are pure white like the parents. Elizabeth asks "aren't swan babies dark?" I said: "Yeah, they're gray." Hmmm, maybe English swans are different... Somehow I feel like I've fallen into the movie - I'm George Banks transformed into Mary Poppins! Now if only I had her powers to make the toys pick themselves up... |
