Am I getting a cold? And why doesn't the doorbell work (again)? Movers for the unit next to Pajama Woman's woke me up at 9:00 this morning. Yes, woke me out of a sound sleep. By pounding on the door. They wanted me to move my car so they could back the truck as close as possible to that unit's back door. They weren't supposed to come until 10:00. They were supposed to use the front door. So it goes. My throat is scratchy, my nose is sniffly, and I feel like I could sleep for a month. I don't dare go back to bed after I move the car though. I'm afraid I'll sleep through my therapy appointment if I do.
OK, so I made it to therapy and spent the whole time complaining about how I must be defective because I can't cope with the modern world - that is, the bank. Actually it was everything related to replacing my car. It just seemed to take too much time, be really inefficient and made me feel really stupid and incompetent. After all, the crisp high-powered people with well-fitting suits and great haircuts never have their cars stolen and have no trouble getting their own money out of the world's most disorganized giant bank, let alone drive around without an inspection sticker... right?
At the Honda Barn, there was somebody ahead of me for the inspection sticker, and the new inspection process takes way longer than the old one too. I left the key and the registration with the service department and settled in with Thirty Years in the waiting room. The wait was way less than thirty years, but I read quite a bit of Thirty Years. After a lunch of corn chowder with a bagel and cream cheese at Sunrise Bagels, I drove home and curled up in bed trying to sleep away the sore throat sniffle malaise.
At least the Braves made tonight's game a little bit interesting. I was beginning to think I could only enjoy the series if El Duque was pitching.
The best news of the day is that my camera is back. That would be the "real" camera, the Pentax that has been away at the authorized Pentax service place for over a month. Now it is back to 35 mm photography with actual film. There's only so much you can do with bits right now. |
