The boat was rolling so much last night that I kept sliding up and down the bed. It made for uncomfortable sleep because I was afraid I'd hit my head on the wall behind the bed.

Pretty tired all day and feel like I'm getting a cold - stuffy nose and raw throat.

Lectures today on geology, seal identification, penguins, Zodiac safety. I kept drifting off during the lectures even though I really wanted to hear about rocks and especially penguins.

Found my toothbrush finally - inside one of my gloves - didn't leave it in Chile after all.

Penguins! A small group of 5 or 6 chinstraps porpoised past the boat when I was on deck looking at Cape petrels.

I love the Cape petrels. They're pretty black and white small quick birds that blend in with the breaking waves. They've very distinctly patterned. Somebody described them as colorful, which is kind of strange for something that's black and white but I can see why one might say that - they are definitely not drab.

The boat is still rolling but not as bad. Some people up on the bridge sighted land - an island - but I didn't see it. We're supposed to be fairly close to land by dinner at 8:00 PM tonight.

The folks on the bridge also claimed to have seen a whale but I couldn't locate it when they called it out.
