Nancy is having eye surgery this afternoon to remove "globules" left over from the cataract surgery she had a couple of years ago. I get to be her "eye slave" today and tomorrow while she recuperates. We decided to make this festive - and also to prevent her cat from sleeping on her head, which is her favorite part of Nancy's body to sleep on - by getting a hotel room.

I promised to read aloud from Thoreau's journal, from the Carrs' book about South Georgia, and from Gleanings from the Merrimac Valley if my voice holds out.

Meanwhile, I've come down with a cold. It hit me suddenly yesterday afternoon and developed quickly. Definitely a cold and not allergy. Swilled echinacea tea as soon as I got home yesterday and have been downing vitamins this morning.

Now it is off to Providence for the exciting visit to Nancy's eye doctor.

These pages will likely resume on Monday or later, as besides being Nancy's personal care attendant, I still have two more articles to write (the one on cat repellents and one on the Focus on Ferals conference) by next week so the weekend will likely be devoted to catching up on those things as well as doting on Nancy. Also, I'm selling the bluetarp.com domain name to the people who offered to buy it and am changing mine to bluetarpenterprises.com so will probably be off the air while I make that transition.

Fear not, these pages will be back.
